Similar
to Phuket Magazine in size, this the in-flight magazine
of Bangkok Airways, Thailand's 2nd airline. This too, has
become famous for the quality of photography, in-depth feature
stories and high quality reproduction. It is available to
passengers on all flights of the airline through the region.
This
is the in-flight magazine of Thailand's second airline,
Bangkok Airways. FAH THAI runs features on all aspects of
Thailand and about all of the destinations serviced by the
airline, which now include: Koh Samui, Phuket, Hua Hin,
Pattaya, Sukothai and Chiang Mai in Thailand, Angkor Wat
and Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Singapore, Luang Prabang (Laos)
and Jing Hong and Xian (China).

FAH
THAI has often been called the best English language magazine
produced in Thailand. The authors published here include
the best-known writers in Thailand, giving the magazine
editorial of depth and substance. The photography standards
are in line with ARTASIA's traditions, and are considered
the best in Thailand. Production and paper quality is also
the highest, making this a publication of international
standard. In fact, FAH THAI is clearly of a much higher
standard than the in-flight magazines of dozens of international
airlines from small or medium-size countries.
A
high-class publication helps the advertisers maintain the
high quality images they strive for.
Fah
Thai is published every two months and is available to all
passengers on every internal and regional flight of this
dynamic airline.

Writers'
Guidelines to FAH THAI
-
the in-flight magazine of Bangkok Airways produced by Artasia
Press under contract since its inception in 1991.
Magazine
Advance Planning
Fah
Thai has a year plan drawn up well in advance. Contributors
wishing to write for the magazine should ask to see this list,
and suggest story ideas in line with this. Often the editor
has planned stories in need of a writer.
Proposing
Story Ideas
If
you have an idea that you think will be suitable for Fah Thai
please propose it to the Editor in a one or two paragraph
synopsis. We recommend against writing on speculation without
first clearing the idea with the editor. Most stories submitted
in this manner do not fit the planned needs of the magazine
and are rejected.
Rights
Purchased
Fah
Thai purchases one-time rights only. Since we are unable to
pay international standard rates, we buy no exclusive rights
at all, and each author is free to resell the story again.
At the same time we ask each author to tell the editor if
a story being proposed has been used elsewhere, with name
of publication and date published. Stories commissioned for
Fah Thai must not be sold to other publications until 3 months
after they have appeared in Fah Thai.
Payment
Payment
for each story should be agreed by the author and editor in
advance. The editor will then include the agreed fee in an
Assignment form to be delivered to, faxed or E-mailed to the
writer. Unless otherwise agreed in advance, payment will be
made by crossed cheque in the authors' name in Thai Baht.
Cheques are normally issued after publication of the story,
before the following magazine appears. No invoice is required
from the writer, but the writer will be required to provide
ARTASIA PRESS, the publisher, with a legal receipt upon payment.
Photographs
We
rarely purchase photographs from outside sources. ARTASIA
has its own extensive photo library, plus four in-house photographers;
John Everingham, who travels often in the region, plus two
other photographers based in Phuket and one based in Bangkok.
We
will purchase one-time rights to photographs when the contributor
has something that we either don't have, or cannot do ourselves.
We
are interested in the occasional, outstanding photo essay
on a particular subject within the airline's geographic region
from outside photographers. These can come with or without
a story. The important thing is that they must be outstanding.
